Romanian Alexandra Dulgheru managed to win ten games against Maria Sharapova’s service in the quarter-finals of the Miami tournament, yet, she eventually yielded before the former world leader in three sets, 6-3, 6-7 (6), 6-7 (5), according to hotnews.ro. Playing some very good defence, Dulgheru won the first set, 6-3, yet lost the second on tiebreak. In the decider, Sharapova broke Dulgheru’s service on 4-4, yet, she injured her ankle and needed medical care. Dulgheru too won against Sharapova’s service, bringing the set into tiebreak, where Sharapova won 7-5, going into the semis, where she’ll take on German Andrea Petkovic, who ousted Jelena Jankovic in the last eight.
