Founding of Dan Diaconescu’s party, rejected by CAB

The Bucharest Court of Appeal (CAB) rejected, on Friday, the petition for the founding of the People’s Party, initiated by the OTV owner Dan Diaconescu, Mediafax reports. The court ruling is final and irrevocable. The petition was filed on August 26, 2010, at the Bucharest Court. The action came after Dan Diaconescu stated, on June 25, 2010, on his release from custody, in the case in which he stood charged with blackmail, that he would go into politics and set up a party. He motivated his decision on the grounds that his arrest had been politically motivated.
