Seminar marathon at NexT

The programme of the NexT International Film Festival, to take place in Bucharest between April 6 and 10, promises to be richer than ever. Alongside the competition, the traditional programmes and first-time sections, NexT seminars complete the agenda of this spring’s most important cinematographic event, affording meetings and talks with major names in local and international cinema.

Dedicated to directing, sound design, film production and – a special section this year – film criticism, NexT seminars will bring, between April 7 and 9, in the Carturesti Attic, prestigious guests and topical themes for discussion.

The film directing seminar brings, as guest, Marian Crisan (present in NexT 2011 with the short-reel production “Camelia”, in the “Festival Friends” section, presented by HBO, and his debut feature film, “Morgen”, in the “They too were once the NexT Generation” section), the sound design seminar will be delivered by Jean Umansky (who worked with the likes of Nikita Mikhalkov and Jean Pierre Jeunet, signing, among other productions, the sound design for “Amélie”). The guests of the screenwriting seminar will be Richard Kwietniowski (his first feature film, “Love and Death on Long Island”, premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, while the film “Owning Mahowny”, starring Philip Seymour Hoffman and Minnie Driver, was present at Sundance and Berlin) and Tamas Zanyi (sound designer for “With a Little Patience”, by Laszlo Nemes – the winner of the “Cristian Nemescu” Best Director Award at NexT 2010). Finally, the film production seminar boasts the participation of Marie Dubas (short-reel film producer for the Parisian company Petit film) and David Collins (the director of the famous indie production company Samson Films, from Ireland, which produced the film “Once”, the winner of the 2008 Oscar for Best Original Song). At the same time, Matthijs Wouter Knol, the coordinator of the 2008 Berlinale Talent Campus program, is expected in Bucharest to deliver a presentation on “The Benefits of Networking”.

The public’s access to the NexT International Film Festival is free.
