State Grid Corporation of China wants shares in Transelectrica

State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC), included among the world’s top ten companies in the 2010 Forbes ranking, is interested in purchasing shares in the power-transmission company Transelectrica, sources privy to the negotiations stated, quoted by Mediafax. “The Chinese company made an offer, accompanied by a financial bid, to the Economy Minister, to purchase the entire package of 15 pc of the Transelectrica shares, which the ministry intends to list at the Bucharest Stock Exchange this year,” the sources argued. Representatives of the Ministry of Economy merely stated that the sale of Transelectrica shares “will be conducted through methods peculiar to the capital market, that is, through a public bid”.
