New Romanian productions hits the cinemas in late April

“Nasa”/ The Godmother, the latest comedy produced by Alma Sarbu for MediaPro Pictures, will be launched in Romanian cinemas on April 29, MediaPro Distribution informs. “The Godmother” proves that a woman can easily run a mobster clan, sometimes more creatively and with more humour than an old-style Italian “godfather”. The characters of the story are played by well-known names in the Romanian film and entertainment industry: Razvan Vasilescu, Catalina Grama (Jojo), Alex Velea, Mihai Bobonete, Florin Busuioc, Laura Cosoi, and many others. The film tells, in a highly humorous style, the tale of Jennifer (Whitney Anderson), a beautiful American living in Romania, working as a literature teacher in Bucharest. She is married to Radu Prodan (Dragos Bucur), a respected Romanian financier, and they have together a brilliant ten-year-old son, David (Stefan Iancu). One day, during a baptism in which she is the godmother, the police burst into the church and arrest her husband. Based on the screenplay which won the National Cinematography Centre competition, signed by Tudor Voican and Viorel Mihalcea, “The Godmother” marks the debut of young director Virgil Nicolaescu. In the making of this film, Virgil collaborated with Jesus del Cerro, a director who is already at his fifth project alongside MediaPro Pictures, after “Cu un pas inainte”/ One Step Forward, “Contratimp 1”, “Contratimp 2” and “Ho Ho Ho”.
