Gymnastics – EC 2011: Porgras and Racea fail

For Romania’s Ana Porgras and Amelia Racea the women’s qualifiers for the European Artistic Gymnastics Championships have underlined the old saying “anything can happen in a competition,” the two gymnasts having poor performances in the balance beam event where they theoretically had the highest chances to win medals, Agerpres informs. Amelia Racea paid dearly for her lack of focus and botched her floor exercise. Her errors negatively influenced the score, which stood at only 10.925 (4.500+6.525). Ana Porgras no longer competed in the balance beam and vault events, the coaches choosing to protect her after she complained of having shank pain.
