Pharma market suspected of intentional delay in launching drugs

The Competition Council (CC) is monitoring the pharmaceutical market, suspecting producers of unwarranted promotion of innovative drugs, thus determining physicians to recommend expensive medicine, and of having secret deals with generic drug companies to delay the launch of these, cheaper, products, Mediafax reports. These conclusions arise from the investigation completed, recently, by the Competition Council, which analyzed the Romanian bulk drug market. The analysis indicated that, due to the preferential sale of innovative drugs, the generic drugs’ penetration degree is low.
