President Traian Basescu signed, yesterday, the condolence book opened at the UN Information Centre for Romania, requesting that his message should remain private. Traian Basescu remained only five minutes inside the building and refused to make any statements.
The head of state also sent a message of condolences to the family of Filaret Motco, the Romanian killed in Afghanistan, arguing that messages against UN personnel are unacceptable and that the Romanian side calls on Afghan authorities to take measures so the culprits should be brought to justice. The UN Information Centre posted, on Tuesday, on its website, a message meant to commemorate the seven people killed in last week’s attack.
