Targu Secuiesc mayor put on trial for bribe-taking

Racz Karoly, the suspended mayor of Targu Secuiesc, was brought to trial, under arrest, by prosecutors with the Brasov Office of the National Anti-Corruption Directorate (DNA) for repeated acts of corruption, Mediafax reports. According to prosecutors’ indictment, in February 2010, Racz Karoly, in his capacity as mayor of the municipality of Targu Secuiesc, demanded bribe money from the representative of a trading enterprise (the denouncer) towards providing, in the said capacity of mayor, the normal carrying out of a RON 2,123,224.5, not inclusive of VAT, framework service contract between the municipality and the denouncer’s company, on the supplying of sand and broken stone and their transport for a period of 36 months.
