In the draw for the 2010/11 UEFA European Under-17 Championship, at Belgrade City Hall on Tuesday, first-time qualifiers Romania was placed in group B, alongside the 2009 champions Germany, The Netherlands and Czech Republic, according to uefa.com
England and the hosts Serbia were placed in Group A with 2004 winners France and Denmark.
Adrian Vasai, head coach of Romania’s U17 national team, stated that it is good that the draws did not put the team in Group A of the European Championship in Serbia and that he has confidence in the team’s chances in the tournament scheduled this May.
“We are going to this final tournament with confidence and I believe it is better that we are not in Group A. We have three very good opponents; we played in a friendly against Germany this year and it finished 1-1. It’s a powerful team, I could even call it a beautiful team, and we’re hopeful,” Adrian Vasai stated for the Romanian Football Federation (FRF) website.
