The head of Realitatea Media’s Administration Board, Sorin Freciu, told Mediafax yesterday that the board voted to demand the general shareholders’ assembly to terminate the contract with Asesoft. Freciu added that the shareholders’ assembly will be held on April 27-28.
Freciu also said that the board did not discuss any possible replacement of members, as suggested by Asesoft’s representative in Realitatea Media, Sebastian Ghita. Ghita had said that in case the board of administrators decided not to terminate the contract with Asesoft, the company will move to restructure the media trust’s management. The Asesoft representative added yesterday that his firm has already sent a notification to the shareholders’ assembly, demanding that the board be replaced.
Tensions at the TV channel began a few months ago, after Ghita made a series of decisions contested by both journalists in the media trust and by owner Sorin Ovidiu Vintu. Ghita was accused of interfering with the editorial policies of Realitatea TV and of illegally replacing the media trust with his company in the rental contract for the House of Free Press offices currently used by the channel. Several leading members of the channel’s editorial trust have been replaced, while Vintu announced that he was taking steps to replace Ghita as manager of the media trust.
