A masked person entered a Banca Comerciala Romana (BCR) unit in the Constantin Brancoveanu area, in Bucharest, and threatened the cashiers, making off with the money. The spokesperson for the Bucharest Police, Diana Sarca, stated that the robbery had been committed at 10:10, according to Mediafax. No details were provided regarding the amount stolen. The aggressor entered the bank, holding an object that may have been a weapon, although it is not clear yet whether it was a real or a toy gun. After the aggressor left the bank, the cashiers pushed the panic button and called 112. Sarca added that a security check had been conducted at the bank in question two weeks ago and a recommendation had been made to employ security guards as well, as the bank only contains security cameras. The spokesman for BCR Cornel Cojocaru stated that the measure taken one year ago of dispensing with manned security had been the right one, preventing situations where aggressors may get into altercations with the guards.
