Traffic under Basarab Bridge to be resumed in full, except for trams

The general mayor of Bucharest, Sorin Oprescu, stated, on Saturday, after a field verification of works on the Basarab Pass, that, as of today, traffic would be resumed in full under the bridge, except for trams, without providing a clear date when the pass was to be opened for traffic, Mediafax reports. In a brief intervention, Ion Dedu, the head of the Bucharest City Hall Transports Direction, stated that trams, at least two tram lines, would be running through the terminal under the bridge. Oprescu further stated that the bridge may be opened for traffic before June 1, as the set-up of anti-seismic sensors went smoothly. He argued that the pass architect called for new endurance tests, which is why he could not provide a clear deadline by which the construction should be inaugurated.
