The former deputy Nati Meir, tried for influence-peddling and sentenced to prison in another case, left the Galati Prison, on Monday evening, after the Galati Court of Appeal rejected the prosecutors’ appeal to the decision of his release. When asked why he had attempted to kill himself while in detention, Nati Meir claimed it had all been a game, as he hadn’t really meant to kill himself, but merely to draw the attention of the press, and this had been the only means he could resort to. Nati Meir has another four year-sentence in another case, for cheating several people whom he had promised jobs in Israel.
