Romanians claim crisis here to stay for another 5 years

According to a survey authored by ISRA Center, over half of Romanians expect the current economic crisis to continue for another 2-5 years and 92 per cent of them expect price hikes this year, Mediafax informs. Moreover, there is a category of “extreme pessimists” that considers that the crisis will last more than 5 years (10 per cent of urban population).

On the other hand, only 5 per cent show optimism, stating that the crisis will be over in Romania in less than a year. People show most pessimism in Wallachia, in what concerns both the length of the economic crisis and the price hikes. People in Moldavia are at the opposite end, showing more confidence in the economic situation. The survey also shows that most of the respondents expect a hike in marketing actions such as a higher number of advertisements, promotions and special offers, and the launching of smaller packages for consumer goods. However, they do not expect higher product diversity on the Romanian market.
