‘Landscape!’ – black and white photo exhibit at MTR

The Czech Centre Bucharestand the Romanian Peasant’sMuseum (MTR) invite us, tomorrow,starting 6 pm, at theopening of the black and whitephotography exhibition “Landscape!”signed by Tomas Bican.The artist graduated from thePrague School of Photographyin 1996 and has been workingas a freelance photographersince graduation. The exhibitioncomprises 12 large-scaleblack and white photographstaken using a medium-format,Hasselblad, camera. The imagesincluded in the exhibition weretaken both in Europe, as well asin exotic lands, like India orBrazil. Nonetheless, they are notdocumentary images. TomasBican is more concerned withthe artistic angle, and, therefore,his works display a tendencytowards the abstract. “Landscape!”is a sequel to the seriestitled “The City” and closes theartist’s “square” period. Theopening will also include thescreening of special footage,made by Tomas Bican, based onthe photos. The exhibition isrunning until May 6, at theAquarium Hall of the RomanianPeasant’s Museum.Entrance is free.
