Diaconescu: Tunisia and Egypt seek support for institutional construction

Tunisia and Egypt are seekingRomania’s support to secure theinstitutional construction and therule of law, Senate deputy SpeakerCristian Diaconescu said yesterday,quoted by Mediafax. “Beyondstrengthening the relations of bilateralcooperation and moving forwardthe political trend we havehad with the Arab world for a longtime, Bucharest authorities werealso asked to provide practical support,”Diaconescu said.According to the source, the twostates sought “expertise in everythingthat pertains to institutionalconstruction, starting with legalinstitutions, Parliament, the rule oflaw, the way political parties areformed, and the freedom of thepress.” Cristian Diaconescu madethe statements at the conclusion ofa meeting with ambassadors ofArab states in Bucharest, attendedby diplomats from Tunisia, Egypt,Iraq, Qatar, Lebanon and SaudiArabia.
