Minister of Regional Development andTourism Elena Udrea yesterday sued theCenter Right Alliance (formed by PNL andPC) for its campaign under the slogan“Defend Bucharest from Elena Udrea,” PCPresident Daniel Constantin announced yesterday,quoted by Realitatea.net. PNL andPC are calling the population of Bucharestto decide by referendum over PDL’s initiativeto end the current administrative divisionof the capital city into six Districts, eachhaving its own mayor and local authorities.
Udrea has repeatedly accused theLiberals of waging a dirty campaign againsther. Yesterday, the Liberal mayor of District1, Andrei Chiliman said that PDL stole theelections and now wants to steal the referendum,and accused Udrea of ordering adiversion by asking more questions in thereferendum, in order to minimise theimportance of the real issue. PNL producedthe 100,000 signatures needed in support ofits own referendum project, in which theywant to ask Bucharesters just one question.The General Council of Bucharest was dueto decide yesterday over two important topics:the referendum and the Law on theCapital City’s Budget.
