Weightlifting European Championships: Marius Giscan wins gold in clean and jerk event

On Tuesday Romania’s MariusGiscan won the gold medal at theEuropean Weightlifting Championshipsin Kazan, Russia. TheRomanian won the clean and jerkevent of the 62 kilogram category.

Antoniu Buci won two silvermedals for Romania: he lifted134 kilograms in the snatch eventand finished on second place inthe 62 kilogram category’s overallstandings, Hotnews informs,quoting Mediafax. The Romaniantotaled 290 kilograms inthe overall standings (134 kg inthe snatch event and 156 kg inthe clean and jerk event).

Marius Giscan became a Europeanchampion after lifting 162kilograms in the clean and jerkevent. Marius was 5th in the overallstandings (162 kg in the cleanand jerk event and 119 kg in thesnatch event).

On Monday, day 1 of theEuropean Championships, Romania’sFlorin Croitoru won silverin the snatch event and bronzein the 56 kilogram category’soverall standings.
