‘Adevarul’ continues campaign against Crin Antonescu

‘Adevarul,’ a daily owned by businessman Dinu Patriciu (PNL member)  continued its campaign against Crin Antonescu last Friday too. After  accusing, almost openly, MEP Adina Valean, Antonescu’s wife, of lobbying in favour of the Rosia Montana Gold Corporation several weeks ago, on  Friday the daily published an article in which it tries to prove that the  Liberal Senator is a “political sluggard.” “Monitored step by step” on April  13, Antonescu started work at 1 PM and finished working at 5.30 PM.  Queried about this work schedule, Crin Antonescu told the journalists: “Maybe you know what I did at home too. (…) If you don’t know then stop  saying these things!”

According to PNL sources quoted by Realitatea.net,  the conflict between Patriciu and Antonescu allegedly grew worse last  spring during the PNL Congress when the businessman wanted to move on a more visible position within the party’s leadership. Last but not least,  Patriciu allegedly promised several members of his entourage leadership  positions at various levels and was vexed by the negative answer that he   allegedly received from the PNL President. Mugur Ciuvica, leader of the  Political Investigations Group, has a different opinion. “I don’t believe that  the “A day in Crin’s life” article reveals the fact that Dinu Patriciu, the daily’s  wner, wants to topple Antonescu from PNL’s helm,” Ciuvica told  Inpolitics. “Only the Liberals can do that, by voting for it at a future Congress. Or the Romanians if Antonescu will run for President,” Ciuvica  said.
