Teodor Baconschi meets HRH Princess Reem Al-Ali

Yesterday the Romanian Foreign Affairs Minister Teodor Baconschi met Her Royal Highness Princess Reem Al-Ali, executive president of the Royal Cinematographic Commission in Jordan, founder and honorary chairperson of the Jordan Media Institute in Amman. According to a communiqué posted on the Foreign Affairs Ministry’s website, the Foreign Minister and HRH Princess Reem Al-Ali exchanged opinions on the importance of dialogue between the Romanian and Jordanian worlds of academia and civil societies on issues concerning democratic principles and practices, including those that concern the communications and media domain. Particular attention was given to developments in the Arab world.

In this context, HRH Princess Reem outlined the importance that has to be given to the young Arab population and to its aspirations in the economic sector and in the political-social expression domain. Both sides underlined the need for dialogue between the leaderships of Arab states and the opposition movements, as a way of achieving real progress in a peaceful manner. At the same time, Baconschi issued a message of appreciation for the initiatives that the leadership of Jordan made in order to deepen its democratic reforms and expressed Romania’s support for them.
