‘Manele’ singer Adrian Minune quits PSD, Stefanesti local council

Adrian Simionescu, aka Adrian Minune, is giving up politics to focus more on his career as a ‘manele’ singer, according to Realitatea.net. Minune announced yesterday that he was quitting the Social-Democrat Party and his position in the local council of Stefanesti, Ilfov County. Minune is currently being checked by the National Tax Administration Agency after Integrity Agency inspectors found major differences between the incomes he declared to the state and those he actually cashed. According to the inspectors, the singer cannot explain the sources of EUR 100,000 in his wealth statement. The checks were also extended to his wife and children. Minune became local councilloron behalf of the PSD in 2008 and his term was scheduled to rununtil 2012. When announcing his resignation, Minune said the Integrity Agency checks into his wealth were politically ordered, but he could not specify who was behind the move.
