The European Commission (EC) authorised, yesterday, a state aid-program with a budget of RON 1.13 bln (approx. EUR 304 M), to support Romanian farmers faced with difficulties in the context of the economic crisis, by subventionsof up to EUR 15,000, the institution announced, quoted by Mediafax. The aids can be granted until December 31, 2011, and will take the form of direct subventions. The program is part of the Temporary Frame for the state aids to facilitate access to funding in the context of the present financial and economic crisis, adopted by the Commission in December 2010, to allow member states to grant aids, within a certain budget, to primary agricultural producers.
