Hollywood Music in Bucharest

On May 22, starting 7pm, film-lovers are invited to a showin a national premiere, at the Palace Hall.

“Hollywood Music in Bucharest” is an original incursion in the world of film (from the classics to very recent productions), on the rhythms of the best-known film scores, performed faultlessly by the 62 members of the European Royal Orchestra, under the baton of famous Austrian conductor Gottfried Rabl.

The images on screen will guide us through a selection of magic moments, excepts from Hollywood’sand Broadway’s finest classic and modern productions, including: The Sound of Music, Superman, Cats (“Memories”), the James Bond series, E.T., The Phantomof the Opera, Hook, Titanic, Spiderman, The Pirates of the Caribbean, Gladiator, Star Wars, Dirty Dancing. Furthermore, the presence of soprano Mediana Vlad (prima donna of the “Ion Dacian”Operetta Theatre in Bucharest) and tenor Mircea Ciurez (the“George Enescu” Philharmonic) will add to the glamour, promisingto offer a complete, perfect show and a unique experience for the Bucharest public.

We should mention that, especially for this show, the organizers will set up, in the Palace Hall foyer,a wonderful exhibition of paintingsand drawings inspired by classic movies, to help us get into Hollwood mood.

The European Royal Orchestra includes the finest graduates of music faculties from Romania and abroad. Professional artists, the members of leading Romanian orchestras, were delighted to join such an ambitious project, along side these brilliant young musicians.Further more, the EuropeanRoyal Orchestra can boast extensive collaborations with the world’stop music producers and with international-rank professionals: orchestrators, conductors, scenographers and sound engineers.

Currently the conductor of the Vienna Radio Symphonic Orchestra, Gottfried Rabl has been involved, through out his careers,in emblematic artistic endeavours to promote contemporary music.The repertoire he approached covers a wide stylistic range – one ofhis original projects was a CD series, in which he provided the accompaniment to EnricoCaruso’s recordings. Thus, what started out as an experiment became one of the most successful records of the past decade, winning the prestigious GermanCritics’ Echo Preis Award.
