The completion of the Cernavoda-Medgidia motorway segment will cost between RON 500-700 M VAT exclusive (EUR 120-170 M), according to the announcement of intent posted by the Romanian National Company of Motorways and National Roads (CNADNR) for a new bid, after it terminated the contract with French company Colas, Mediafax reports. The new contract that will spread on 12 months refers to designing and building nearly 20 km of motorway, with financing secured from European grants, the European Investment Bank, and the state budget. The government wants to sign the contract on May 30. In November 2008, Colas was awarded the contract for the construction of the Cernavoda-Medgidia motorway segment, worth RON 634 M (VAT exclusive), of which it received RON 97 M (VAT included).
