PSD Vice President Corina Cretu launched harsh attacks against her former colleague Adrian Severin yesterday, stating that the budget of the Social-Democrat Party’s delegation within the EP had transparency problems back when he was its head. Severin was personally managing the budget, without a treasurer, Cretu stated in an interview for Mediafax.
The PSD Vice President pointed out that that was the group’s budget for conferences and other actions. Asked whether the Social-Democrat MEPs tried to solve these problems within the party, Corina Cretu answered: “Mr. Ponta has tried to solve them ever since he took over. Mr. Geoana before him didn’t. He was clearly on Mr. Severin’s side and we couldn’t raise this issue. But ever since things changed within the party Mr. Ponta and Mr. Dragnea met us all, listened to our opinions and things started to become clearer, we’ve elected a treasurer, a new head of the delegation.” Severin, who is now an independent MEP, is at the centre of a large corruption row in which three other MEPs are also involved.
