15-year-old girl killed in Drobeta Turnu Severin fire

A fire engulfed a three-storey block of flats in Drobeta Turnu Severin on Monday afternoon, with over 80 persons being evacuated. Three hours after the fire started firefighters found the charred body of a 15-year-old girl in one of the flats. According to Cornel Ionescu, leader of the “Pro Mehedinti” Roma Party, the teenage girl had a handicap. The fire was put out after several hours. Firefighters pointed out that the fire damaged only the building’s attic. The fire most likely started in the room in which the 15-year-old girl was found dead. Approximately 20 people were left homeless.
