Metrorex could terminate EUR 239 M-contract with Alstom

After Colas, Vinci, GDF Suez or EADS, the French company Alstom is also about to lose a substantial deal. According to gandul.info, the contract between Metrorex and Alstom, worth EUR 239 M, was signed in 2004, on a 15 year-term. In return for this amount, the French committed to ensuring the maintenance of the Metrorex trains. Within seven years since the signing of the contract, the company has already collected approx. EUR 207 M, “within a profit margin of about 30 pc,” sources within the Transport Ministry stated, for “Gandul”.

Metrorex is currently trying to renegotiate the terms of the deal and to reduce expenses, as the Government recently approved a memorandum to this purpose. “The target of current negotiations is to persuade them to accept a reasonable profit, of 5 to 10 pc. For the time being, they refuse even to disclose what the price is made up of,” Gheorghe Udriste, director general of Metrorex, stated.
