Alro case remains closed

The Alro case, investigated by the former prosecutor Ciprian Nastasiu, in which the latter called for the tapping of the phone conversations of Theodor Stolojan, Dan Voiculescu, Attila Verestoy, Bogdan Chirieac, Elena Udrea and Doru Cocos, remains closed, as the high court rejected the petition of Vadim Don Benyatov, a former defendant in this case. The Alro case was closed in January 2010, by the Directorate for the Investigation of Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT), but Benyatov appealed against the prosecutors’ resolution at the high court, so that the case, phone records included, was made public. Information regarding the recordings in the Alro case was disclosed by Nastasiu in the midst of the presidential election campaign.
