Eight US troops killed on Kabul airport

Eight American soldiers were killed in a gunfight on Kabul airport, which is controlled by Romanian security forces, according to Realitatea.net. The incident happened at around 9:30 a.m. Romania time yesterday, a spokesperson for the Afghanistan Defence Ministry, General Mohammad Zahir Azimi said.

Several people were killed in the incident, in which an Afghan aviation officer opened fire on foreign troops on the airport. The incident reportedly stemmed from an argument between an Afghan pilot and an international colleague, the ministry said. Romanian air forces took over command of the Kabul airport on April 1, from Hungary. Romania has over 1,800 troops in Afghanistan, 14 soldiers died so far.
