EU – considering all options on Syria

The European Union is considering all of its options regarding Syria, amid a crackdown against opposition supporters in the Middle East country, the Wall Street Journal online reports. “We are considering all options” on the situation in Syria, said a European Commission spokesman Wednesday. He said they have sent a “very strong message” to the Syrian regime that “it is not acceptable to fire on demonstrators.” He would not be drawn on details of “potential sanctions” or other measures the EU could take. He said the EU is one of the international institutions that “are working together to exert pressure” on Syria’s regime.
