According to the National Bank of Romania (BNR) data published yesterday, the value of loan payments behind schedule rose by 1.3 per cent in March compared to February and by 10.1 per cent in Q1 to RON 17.8 bln, representing 8.66 per cent of total loans, Mediafax informs.
The value of nonperforming loans grew by 3.66 per cent in January and by 5 per cent in February after falling slightly by 1.2 per cent last year after the banks cleaned up their balance sheets at the end of the year by selling bad loan packages. The share of nonperforming loans grew from 7.66 per cent of total loans in December 2010 to 8 per cent in January this year and 8.44 per cent in February.
