Ten persons hurt in crash in Constanta County

Ten persons were injured in a car crash that took place yesterday morning on National Road 38 in Topraisar, Constanta County. A lorry entered the opposite lane where it collided with a minivan and a bus. The two vehicles had 40 persons onboard. According to the Constanta Traffic Police, the crash occurred after the driver of a lorry with Ukrainian license plates fell asleep at the wheel. The lorry, traveling towards the customs house in Negru Voda, entered the opposite lane and slammed into a bus and a minibus. The lorry eventually stopped into the wall of a house. The bus had 30 passengers, while the minibus had 13. Traffic was disrupted for approximately one hour, being restricted to a single lane.

According to Mediafax, two of the injured persons were in a serious condition and underwent surgery within the Constanta County Hospital where ten injured persons were hospitalized. According to the hospital’s representatives, two of the patients suffered polytraumas and pneumothorax. One of them also had a broken spleen. The other eight suffered various traumas and concussions but their lives are not at risk.
