Search for Italian Mafia money leads to Glina

Italian anti-Mafia prosecutors have reasons to believe one of the heads of the Cosa Nostra, Massimo Ciancimino, is hiding funds of EUR 300 M in Romania. The son of the former “grey eminence” of the Cosa Nostra, Vito Ciancimino, laundered money as investments in the dumping grounds in Romania, particularly in the “Glina affair”. A note of the Palermo Court judges regarding the criminal activity of the Ciancimino clan, published yesterday by “Corriere della Sera”, indicates that the largest portion of the 48-year-old mob leader Massimo Ciancimino’s fortune, estimated at EUR 400 M, is believed to be hidden in Romania.
