Viorica Cortez, also known as “the Carmen of the century”, will teach singing masterclasses.
As of Wednesday, until next Monday, the most talented lyrical artists are to attend, in Bucharest, a series of masterclasses and workshops coordinated by internationally-acclaimed artists. These include the celebrated mezzo-soprano Viorica Cortez, back in Romania to teach singing masterclasses for the Romanian artists. The event marks a premiere on the Romanian cultural scene, being the first initiative to create an elite professional training centre for opera.
The young artists will be offered singing classes by the world-famous soprano Viorica Cortez, as well as acting classes taught by the American director Vincent Liotta, and will train with the tenor Marius Budoiu. At the end of the module, the young professional artists will appear in the “Grand Opera Gala – Youth for Excellency” show, to take place on Monday, May 9, starting 7:30pm, at the Romanian Athenaeum.
The main sponsor of the “2011 Romania Excellency Centre for Opera” project is the company Rosia Montana Gold Corporation.
