Former presidential aide Sebastian Lazaroiu said yesterday that a new political party has high chances to gain a prominent role on the political stage, as the active electorate wishes to see a new structure. In a talk with HotNews.ro readers, Lazaroiu insisted that he has not changed his mind about the fact a new party is needed, but added that the results of this move depend a great deal on how this new party would be created. He added that he is not very optimistic about the ruling Democrat Liberal Party’s chances to achieve important results in the 2012 elections.
On the other hand, Senate Speaker and prominent Social Democrat member Mircea Geoana on Tuesday evening voiced his stern belief that after PDL internal elections, a new centre-right party would emerge on the political stage, with Lazaroiu’s contribution. He said the move is practically designed by PDL and President Traian Basescu in order to prevent the opposition from wining 2012 legislative elections.
