S&D MEPs ask EC to express opinion

S&D Group MEPs Constanze Krehl, Jens Geier and Victor Bostinaru queried the European Commission yesterday about the measures it plans to take in what concerns the case of former Romanian Labor Minister Ioan Botis, Mediafax informs. The move comes against the backdrop of accusations that Botis was in a conflict of interest, his wife being employed by an NGO that tapped half a million Euros from European funds. The European Commission was asked to state whether OLAF expressed its opinion in this case but also to evaluate the goals of the project financed from European funds, as well as the advisability of using experts such as the former Minister’s wife.
