USL threatens to boycott Parliament

PSD Secretary General Liviu Dragnea stated that USL could boycott Parliament and its MPs could successively resign from elected offices. “It’s an option that Crin Antonescu, Victor Ponta and Daniel Constantin, the Presidents of the three parties, discussed and that Crin Antonescu presented – a kind of  Parliament’s strike. I would go even further than that: successive resignations from Parliament and maybe from the entire local administration. There are colleagues that say “yes, and the ruling coalition doesn’t care, it will organize elections for the vacated offices.” That’s fine, we’ll boycott the elections too. If we boycott the partial Parliamentary and local elections and even then we will fail to mobilize the population and the EU won’t wake up…,” PSD Secretary General Liviu Dragnea stated on Friday evening on Antena 3. He underlined that such an option does not entail boycotting general Parliamentary elections too.Dragnea added that the Social-Liberal Union (USL) is also taking into account the “street protests” option as a form of protest against the current ruling coalition. “At the previous protest meeting the ruling coalition blocked all contracts that the trade unions had made with transporters. It threatened the transporters and they gave up their contracts,” Dragnea stated.

In other developments, PNL President Crin Antonescu stated on Saturday on Realitatea TV that today he will reveal the name of a Democrat-Liberal MP that will join PNL.
