Financial administration director, sent in court for embezzling RON 3.6 M

The head of the Beius Public Finance Administration (AFP) and a department chief of the same institution were sent in court under the accusations of misuse of authority against the public interest, and forgery, for embezzling over RON 3.6 M from public money, Mediafax reports. According to the spokesman of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Bihor Tribunal, Dorel Motiu, the two civil servants “knowingly protected certain companies that had big debts to the state budget and only warned them about the situation, but did not enforce other sanctions that are norm in such case, like impounding their assets and blocking their bank accounts. They even issued to such a company a paper certifying that it had no debts to the state budget,” Motiu explained. According to the source, the activity of the two civil servants resulted in a prejudice of RON 3,679,806.
