According to data released by the Bucharest General Department of Public Finance and quoted by Forbes Romania, the highest net monthly salary paid to a Bucharest inhabitant last month exceeded EUR 33,000. Additionally, 2011 might bring new salary increases. The employee that earned this sum works in fund management and lives in District 1 of the Romanian capital. Though the construction sector was worst hit by crisis, some are still able to obtain important incomes from this activity. Thus, a construction employee living in District 4 was among the best-paid Bucharesters in 2010, with a monthly salary of EUR 18,400 in 2010, along with a real estate developer living in District 1, which had a net salary of EUR 17,000. Last year, the highest monthly incomes were reported by the banking sector. A banker living in District 1 was the best paid inhabitant of Bucharest, with incomes exceeding EUR 133,000.
