After winning the auction held by Banca Comerciala Romania (BCR) last autumn, Romtelecom becomes the bank’s main provider for the following services: electronic communications (Virtual Private Network with more than 600 points of presence), IP telephony (an IPTel network integrated with the SIP Trunk service, for over 6,000 IP phones with non-geographic numbering), while the partner company COSMOTE will provide mobile telephony and mobile internet services. The contract also implies the integration of new communication hardware, given Romtelecom’s unique position on the Romanian market through its certifications and the quality of Cisco Gold partner, reads a press release.
“It was a difficult bid, with complex demands, and we are glad we could provide the best solution for BCR. The solution will modernise the current voice and data communication services of BCR and will lay the ground for significant increases of productivity, with the possibility to integrate and interact with other key applications of the institution,” George Makowski, Romtelecom’s Chief Commercial Officer, Business Sector said yesterday, during the contract signing ceremony.
“(…) This achievement confirms the success we enjoyed in the business segment, of late,” said Panos Makris, Commercial Director of COSMOTE Romania.
“BCR is in a full process of modernising, developing and updating its communication services. Here we refer to everything that pertains to landline and mobile telephony, but also to data transfer. (…) The technical solutions provided by our partner are state-of-the-art, at a very advantageous cost,” stated Christian Franz Bruckner, Chief Operating Officer, BCR.
With a dedicated business division in Romania, which celebrates four years of activity this month, Romtelecom has been chosen as service provider by more than 1,000 large companies (banks, pharmaceutical and retail companies, and government institutions) and over 100,000 SMEs.
COSMOTE Romania had 6.6 million customers on March 31, 2011. COSMOTE Romania currently covers 99 pc of the population and 90 pc of the territory. BCR, a member of Erste Group, is the most important financial group in Romania, which includes companies specialised in leasing, asset management, private pensions and real estate banking.
