Teodor Baconschi, the Romanian Foreign Minister, will be in London on May 16 to prepare the Romanian president’s official visit to the United Kingdom. Traian Basescu will visit London in June 2011, “a visit already officially set,” Teodor Baconschi stated, for HotNews. Featured on the agenda of next week’s meeting between the Romanian and British Foreign Ministers are topics related to “cooperation in the justice and internal affairs domains, the intensification of trade exchanges between Romania and the United Kingdom, the Romanian-British cooperation in the security domain and within NATO, events in the Middle East, the action against terrorism and topics from the European agenda,” the spokesperson for the Romanian Foreign Ministry (MAE), Doris Mircea, stated, quoted by the same source.
Moving on to another topic, president Traian Basescu met, yesterday, at Cotroceni, General Duncan J. McNabb, commander of Transcom, USA.
“Let us hope we will manage to find the adequate capabilities for our mission,” the Romanian head of state told the American general. “You’ve been such good friends and allies of the United States. Admiral Stavridis and General Petraeus asked me to express their gratitude. When we first discussed possible locations where we could conduct a multi-mobile operation, their first option was we should be considering Romania,” the Transcom commander replied, according to Mediafax.
