Besiktas wins Turkish Cup

Besiktas Istanbul has won the Turkish Cup, defeating Buyuksehir Belediyespor at penalty kicks, score 4-3. With this result Besiktas has secured a place in the Europa League. The two teams were in a tie after 90 minutes and extra time, score 2-2. Portugal’s Ricardo Quaresma opened the score for the “Black Eagles” in the 33rd minute but former Besiktas player Ibrahim Akin equalized from a penalty kick in the 53rd minute. Gokhan Unal put Besiktas back in the lead in the 68th minute but Czech Republic’s Tomas Sivok sent the game into extra time in the 78th minute.
