In its Wednesday meeting, the government passed a project on modernising 16 railway stations, upon a total investment of EUR 283 M, Mediafax reports. The works will be financed with money from the European Commission (EC), allotted through the Regional Development Fund, and from the state budget, through the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure (MTI). The stations to be restored and modernised are Alexandria, Bistrita, Botosani, Braila, Calarasi, Giurgiu, Piatra-Neamt, Pitesti, Ramnicu-Valcea, Resita Sud, Sfantul Gheorghe, Slatina, Slobozia, Targu Mures, Vaslui and Zalau.
