Komodo dragon escapes his cage, strolls through Bucharest

A Komodo dragon escaped his cage last Friday, while being taken to an exhibition in District 3 of Bucharest. The reptile took refuge in a tree of the Lia Manoliu sports complex, prompting police, firefighters and Animal Police officers to respond, under the eyes of a curious crowd. The lizard was captured after a 4-hour effort, because its owner – a German citizen – opposed to tranquilising it. An Animal Police officer climbed the 30-meter ladder and simply caught the beast. The reptile is worth EUR 37,000.
