The “Puppet Feast” started, yesterday, at the Arad Puppet Theatre, marking 60 years since the first puppet show presented in Arad, in 1951. The festival is running since yesterday until May 24.
The event will include a series of shows offered by animation theatres from Romania and abroad, as well as a new stage in the EU funded-project “Vagabondage”, a project co-involving, alongside the Arad Puppet Theatre, the Karromato Company in Prague and the Puppet Theatre in Belfort (France).
Also featured on the programme are shows presented by the “Ion Creanga” Theatre in Bucharest, the “Puk” Puppet Theatre in Cluj-Napoca, the “Liviu Rebreanu” troupe of the Targu Mures National Theatre and the “Colibri” Children’s and Youth Theatre in Craiova.
The Arad Puppet Theatre is, alongside the Tandarica Theatre in Bucharest, the only institution in Romania where the art of puppet-wielding is used on a regular basis.
