BDT Cars – resounding bankruptcy in the Romanian auto sector

BDT Cars, one of the biggest car dealers in Eastern Europe, has filed for bankruptcy, financiarul.com reports. During the insolvency procedure, the company changed its name, in order not to alarm lenders, ‘Finan­ciarul’ newspaper reports. The company is subject to the bankruptcy procedure since 22 February 2011, when the file no. 13,039 has been opened following the substantial loss sustained by the company. The court has set the next hearing for September 2011.

According to the ANAF lists of companies with debts to the state budget, BDT Cars filed a compensation request for the sum of RON 3.4 M at the beginning of 2011. On 25 March 2011, the company changed its name into Automotive Trading Interna­tional, with the same shareholding structure and offices in three locations: Popesti Leordeni, Metalurgiei Boulevard and Preciziei Boulevard in Bucharest. Since it was founded, the company has permanently accumulated debts, which increased from RON 9 M in 2007 to RON 31.9 M in 2008.
