Democrat-Liberal Brandusa Novac is investigated by the National Integrity Agency (ANI) for conflict of interests given her dual capacity of parliamentarian and manager of the Bucharest-based Globus Circus. ANI yesterday announced it had notified the Prosecutor’s Office of the High Court of Cassation and Justice (ICCJ) <Romania’s Supreme Court> over the case.
According to integrity inspectors, Novac has been manager at Globus Circus since Feb. 2008, and she is also a deputy and chairwoman of the Chamber of Deputies Commission for Culture, Arts and Mass-media. According to ANI, during Dec. 2006-May 2009, Novac, as a private individual and partner in SC Sidus Artis SRL, has signed 11 cooperation contracts, as well as contracts for some shows being performed by the Globus Circus of which she is a manger.
The 11 contracts are worth an overall RON 1,194,032. The administrative conflict of interests arises from the signing of two contracts between her and Globus Circus on her writing the script writer and directing of two shows, and a collaboration deal between her as a private individual and the Bucharest Globus Circus, amounting to an overall RON 443,440, ANI maintains. Novac challenged the ANI evaluation report in court, with the case pending in the Administrative and Fiscal Division of the Bucharest Court of Appeals.
