Canoeist Serghei Covaliov has passed away

Romania’s Serghei Covaliov, former Olympic, world and European canoeist champion died at the age of 66, the official website of Dinamo Bucharest Sports Club announced, Agerpres informs. Born on October 14, 1944 in Tulcea County, Covaliov won gold at the Olympic Games in Ciudad de Mexico in 1968, alongside Ivan Patzaichin. Covaliov won two other world titles (in 1970 and 1973), silver and bronze medals at the world championships, European titles and dozens of medals at international regattas.
