Businessman Irinel Columbeanu yesterday went to the Human Rights Committee of the Chamber of Deputies, to file a request on modifying the laws that protect children’s interests, as he is unhappy that acting legislation allows courts to decide the fate of a child without hearing all sides. “I am glad I could speak to a small part of the Committee, including its chairman, which I find as very important,” Columbeanu said, quoted by Mediafax. His statement comes after the vice-president of the Committee, Democrat-Liberal Marius Dugulescu announced that PDL deputies will not attend the hearing, because “the Parliament of Romania is beyond Irinels and Monicas.”
As Columbeanu was leaving the building, a representative of the TATA Association that defends the rights of fathers, accused him of asking the Parliament to solve his case with the custody of his daughter Irina, at a moment when thousands of fathers have similar problems, but are ignored by the Legislative.
